Photos: Lagos landlady arrested for allegedly connecting water well to NNPC pipeline

Mrs Floyinka Ayinda has been arrested and detained at Idimu division on charges of vandalism of NNPC pipeline in Isheri Olofin, Lagos, after a pipe water well was discovered to be connected to NNPC pipeline.

According to PM News, the 59-year-old landlady has been siphoning petrol illegally at her residence located at KML 1, LASU Road, Iyana Odo bus stop in Isheri Olofin, for the past three years.

Officers of the Anti-Vandalism Intelligence Unit Team B set up by Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, acting on a tip-off made the discovery. Ayinde allegedly admitted after her arrest that for the past three years, vandals has been operating in her house and she reported to the NNPC officials but they did not do anything about it.

She however denied her involvement in the act and claimed that her only mistake was by not informing the police because she relied on NNPC who asked her not to bother. The suspect further revealed that the NNPC officials use to come with a team and she did not ask to know whether they were really officers or not.

Photos: Large oil bunkers depot discovered in Lagos

An expanse of land hidden at Roberts Island, a village off Lagos waters near Atlas Cove, where oil bunkers perforate oil pipelines and steal oil products, was yesterday discovered and exposed by a team led by the Petroleum Minister, Ibe Kachiukwu.

A search around the place showed equipment used by the oil bunkers to perforate oil pipelines and then store the products in the kegs pictured above.

The kegs and the tools used for vandalization were all found buried in the ground. It appeared all dwellers in the community had a role in the vandalism as not one of them reported the matter to the police.

Dr Kachikwu could not hide his disappointment as he spoke to newsmen after the discovery.
“I must say that I was very disillusion to find this discovery but much as I was happy that it was found, it just took a lot of wind off my sail in the sense of what next and who knows how many more have not been discovered.‎ At the end of the day, the responsibility for protecting the assets of Nigerians must lie in the hands of Nigerians. There is no magic that I have that I am going to be able to deliver zero incident environment, given the number of attacks we are getting everywhere but at the end of the day, communities like these ones must begin to rise up and say this is just not right.”‎he said

Lagos bans parties, social functions in public schools

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said it would no longer allow social functions and parties in public schools just as owners of private schools across the state have been warned to comply with rules and regulations guiding their operations.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Mrs Idiat Oluranti Adebule who disclosed this while briefing the media on the strategic focus of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration on education for 2016, said the Governor had directed that schools should no longer be used for social functions.

She said:
“The Governor has directed that schools will no longer be used for social activities any longer. We want to implore members of the public to report any school that violates this directive and we would ensure that defaulting schools are sanctioned accordingly.”
Adebule, who also oversees the Ministry of Education, said the state government was putting a searchlight on the standard of education in the private schools, saying it will no longer be business as usual for such schools that undermine best practices.

She said as a first step, the government will engage with private school owners and proprietors to intimate them on the action plan of the present administration towards improving the standard of education, saying that though government is willing to partner with private schools, they must also be willing to adhere strictly to the acceptable standard.
“Much as private schools are partners in the sector, we would not fold our hands and watch the standard flopped. Some schools even operate without registering with the government. We want to urge such schools to do the right thing or government will have no choice but to do what it has to do,” she said.

Earlier, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, while giving a detailed presentation on the policy thrust of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration for the education sector, said the state government intends to construct the biggest digital library.

He said the government was already at the planning stage of the library, while the actual establishment of the project would commence in the next quarter of the year.
He said the state government will build 10 new model schools with state of the art facilities, while two new technical colleges will be built in the course of the year in areas where such facilities are urgently needed.
On the Ibile Tablets, Bank Olemoh said 324,000 tablets to Senior Secondary School students, adding that plans have been concluded to register all students in both public and private schools in the state under the Lagos State Student Personal Administration Number (LASPIN) project to aid proper planning.

On the free meal in schools project, he said the state government is currently perfecting its framework for the eventual take off, saying that the project is expected to on the one hand, enhance the learning capacity of the pupils and on the other, boost the economy of the state.

Serious Drama As Muslim Woman Refuses To Remove Hijab For MTN Registration

By Ariwoola Temitayo

A Muslim woman who came to register her MTN SIM card at an MTN SIM registration centre caused quite a scene when she refused to take off her hijab for the registration process.
The scene of the SIM registration

There was a mild drama at an MTN registration outlet in Abuja when a certain Muslim woman refused to remove her ‘hijab’ to complete her SIM registration process.

Daily Post reports that at the Garki II, Lagos street MTN outlet, a Yoruba-speaking Muslim woman covered with hijab, refused security search at the entrance to the registration centre.

According to the Daily Post report, the Muslim woman said she will not unveil herself before she will gain access into an office ‘in her own country.’

A police officer, who was acting on instructions to check every customer before they gained access into the office, said that, “This woman is a suspect. How can you come to a public place dressed like this and you expect to gain access into an office that is not yours? No one knows what she has under her veil. She may be carrying a bomb, who knows? This is the reason why we insisted on searching her and she claimed she is a Minister’s wife.”

Meanwhile, the purported Minister’s wife gained access into the office through the intervention of one of the MTN staff who identified herself simply as Zainab.

Zainab, the front desk Manager, said the unidentified woman asked to be privately attended to as she cannot unveil herself in public.

According to her, “The woman asked me to register her in a private room because she cannot remove her veil. I told her it is not in any way possible and after pleading, I asked her, “what if I want to take your photo during the registration?”
Zainab said the supposed Minister’s wife also declined and asked for the registration to be done without her snap shot. She said the woman later asked that she sought permission from her husband before she can unveil her face for the registration process to be completed.

The woman, having caused a stir in the outlet with eyebrows raised, disorganized queues with her insistence and left mouths wagging. She told Daily Post that she will make sure she deals with ‘this so-called police officer.’

The Hajiya, (as she was referred to), who didn’t want her name mentioned, said, “Can you imagine the embarrassment, an ordinary police woman stopping me from entering an office in my own country? I will show you.”
Speaking further, she said, “I want to do this registration thing and they say I must open my veil, which I cannot do because it is against my belief.

“I managed to gain access into the office after several embarrassments from these police guard. When I got in, the MTN officials said I needed to open up my face for a snap shot to complete my registration process which I had not even started.

“I just came out to take permission from my husband, whether or not I should unveil myself, before this police woman said if I go out, I won’t be allowed to go back into the office unless I am thoroughly searched.”

When asked if she was actually a wife of one of the Nigerian Ministers, she said, “I’m sure you must have heard people say that here. People, who know me, have said it, so I cannot talk about that right now,” the professed minister’s wife quipped.

8 Perfect Ways to Boost a Boring Relationship

By Ariwoola Temitayo
No relationship is actually dead if the partners are knowledgeable enough to devise new ideas to lighten up the dark ends.

A Nigerian writer on romance, Agubushmenyo shares his views on cogent ways by which life can be given to a cold relation. Read his opinions below:

You struggle so hard to get this your dream girl. Along the line, after the sexual exploits day in day out, the hanging out and other things. Both of you have run out of ideas and the relationship is becoming boring. Breakup is all that comes to your mind.

A relationship, as we all know, is the connection between two or more people, But in this case, the relationship is between you and your partner; when you are in a relationship, you are emotionally involved  or connected to your partner.

And of course, every relationship needs refueling and it also needs re-boosting to spice up the atmosphere at a point in time.
Here are 8 simple ways to boost your relationship:

1.Surprise your partner by doing a task you do not normally do:
this task may be taking out the trash or cleaning the bathtub etc.

2.Compliment your partner’s parent:
“I love how your Dad makes friends wherever he goes”;“I love how your Mom always asks after my family.”
3.Compliment one of your partner’s friends: “I really admire how smart Kunle or Dolapo is.” Why? It shows you think your partner has good taste in friends.

4.Use a nickname you have stopped using:
Think back to the start of your relationship to any affectionate nicknames you used to use but have stopped using.

5.Do something fun you used to do together that you have stopped doing: Maybe you used to play Monopoly when you first started dating, or maybe you used to take a walk outside for ice cream after dinner. (The activity may take longer than a minute, but the suggestion won’t; it will take less than a minute.)

6.Thank your partner for something you usually take for granted:
“Thanks for cleaning off the plates again, sweetie.”

7.Bring up a positive memory of something you did together: “I was just thinking about how fun it was to pick out plants together last weekend.” You know the positive memory you have had with your partner. Try and bring them out once again to spice up your relationship.

All these acts go a long way in the relationship and it will definitely make your partner appreciate you much better.

BREAKING: Court Orders Nnamdi Kanu to be Remanded in Prison

By Ariwoola Temitayo

Nnamdi Kanu has been removed from the custody of the Department of State Security and has been ordered to be remanded in prison.
IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, in prison custody.
Justice James Tsoho made the order on Wednesday after Kanu, who has since October 14, 2015 been in the custody of the Department of State Service, was arraigned along with two others on charges of treason and others bordering on his agitation for the secession of the Republic of Biafra from Nigeria.
Kanu was arraigned along with two others – Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.
‎The judge in ordering the remand of the accused in prison overruled the request by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Mohammed Diri, for an order further remanding the accused persons in the custody of the DSS.
The ruling of the court ordering Kanu’s remand came as a relief to the defence team, led on Wednesday by Mr. Chuks Mouoma (SAN)‎, who had complained that the accused persons had been denied access to their families and lawyers since their arrest by the DSS on October 14, 2015.
‎Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Service since  October 14, 2015, the day he was arrested in a Lagos hotel, on the allegation that he was plotting the secession of Republic of Biafra from Nigeria.
The accused persons all pleaded not guilty to all the six counts preferred against them.

Angry residents have called for the head of a high placed civil servant caught red-handed having s*x with a female worker inside the council building.

A civil servant is on the verge of losing his job after he was caught redhanded having s*x with an unidentified lover right in his office in the council building. The local government in western Bolivia where the incident happened has become embroiled in a scandalous affair after the incident happened.

The couple were filmed in the throes of passion in several locations at the offices of the local council in the central west city of Oruro. The man is reportedly a civil servant, and the woman a former government employee, local media reports.

The man seen on the video has been identified as the chief systems engineer, Miguel Medina, a council employee. Clearly not satisfied with their dirty little secret being confined to Medina's office, the couple were seen in different rooms all around the council building. Angry citizens have reported the act to the local governor, Víctor Hugo Vasquez, but until now no official statement has been made.

See the Rat that Causes Lassa Fever and Other Important Details (Photos)

The spread of Lassa fever in Nigeria has necessitated a need to enlighten the general public about means of identifying the pest carrying the virus which is detrimental to human health.
Multimammate rat

The name of the rat that possesses and spreads the virus that causes lassa fever is called Multimammate rat (because it has many titss like all these local street dogs after delivery), while the botanical name is Mastomys Natalensis.

There is also an upsurge of the disease everywhere. So we should all practice hand washing hygiene. Also all apple lovers should wash them with salt and warm water before refrigerating them to eat. Our wives should avoid testing of dry garri by chewing them for starch in the market. All garri soakers should let go for now.

The problem is that most of our garri sellers in the market buy their garri from bush markets. These garri are often fried half dry and are subsequently dried on polythene sheets on the tarred roads or compounds in the villages.

These rat dive in at will, to feed their hungry bellies and in the process defecate and urinate on the garri, which dry up with it. If used for Eba, the virus may die because of the hot water used. But if soaked, the virus is directly ushered in. Please no one should joke with this precaution, except you process your cassava yourself.

Every Pastor Who Collects Tithes is a Thief - Pastor Femi Aribisala

Posted by George on Mon 18th Jan, 2016 - tori.ng

Popular pastor and public affairs analyst, Femi Aribisala has berated the act of collecting tithes by their churches which he believes is not biblical.
Femi Aribisala

As far as many pastors are concerned, the most important scripture of all is not to be found in the word of Jesus. Neither is it even in the New Testament. That scripture says: “‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and try me now in this,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’” (Malachi 3:10).
This scripture is drummed repeatedly into Christians on Sundays. However, the only time Jesus mentioned tithing in scripture, he pointed out that it was not a weighty matter of the law. (Matthew 23:23). Hebrews says people only receive tithes “according to the law.” (Hebrews 7:5). It then insists tithing (and everything else under the law) has been annulled: “The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless.” (Hebrews 7:18-19). Nevertheless, mercenary pastors continue to insist on the payment of tithes.

Latter-day Pharisees

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for keeping part instead of the whole law. (Matthew 23:23). That is what tithe-collecting pastors do today. If we insist our congregants must pay tithes, we must also insist that they keep the rest of the law. James says: “Whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.”(James 2:10). Therefore, if we insist on tithing, we should also refrain from eating pork. We should stone adulterers, execute homosexuals, kill Sabbath violators and restore blood-sacrifices.

Tithe-collecting pastors counter this by maintaining the payment of tithes pre-dated the law. Here Abraham is cited as the cardinal example of someone who paid tithes before the promulgation of the Law of Moses, as did Jacob, his grandson. However, such arguments are disingenuous.

Before the law, tithing was at best an example but not a commandment. Moreover, pastors fail to mention that Abraham only tithed once in his lifetime. When he did, he did not even tithe his own money: he tithed the spoils of war. He gave ten percent of the plunder he took when he rescued Lot to Melchisedec, king of Salem. But then he did not even keep the rest but returned it (all ninety percent) to the king of Sodom.

For his part, Jacob also tithed only once. He did this in a “let’s make a deal” arrangement he offered to God: “Jacob made a vow, saying, ‘If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will surely give a tenth to you.’”(Genesis 28:20-22). This kind of deal about accepting God only under certain self-serving conditions should certainly not be a term of reference for any serious believer.

Lies upon lies

The first lie pastors tell Christians is what some have referred to as “the eleventh commandment:” “Thou shalt pay thy tithes to thy local church.” But the bible says no such thing. The storehouse of Malachi was not a church. It was a place where food was kept.

Pastors hide from church-members the fact that money was not acceptable as tithe. The tithe was a tenth of the seed and fruit of the land and of the animals which ate of the land. (Leviticus 27:30-32). That is why God says: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be FOOD in my house.” (Malachi 3:10). He does not say “that there may be MONEY in my house.”The food was used to feed the Levites, the poor, widows, orphans and strangers.

Pastors also conveniently fail to teach the biblical tithe. The principles of tithing were not laid down by Malachi. They were laid down by Moses. The study of Moses’ guidelines quickly reveals that the biblical tithe has no application whatsoever to Christians and is mischievously violated by tithe-collecting pastors today.

According to the Law of Moses, the tithe was divided into three allocations. The first year, it was given to the Levite. The second year, it was given to widows, orphans and the poor. The third year, it was eaten in the company of the faithful before the Lord as thanksgiving for his faithfulness. (Deuteronomy 14:22-28). In the seventh year, there was no planting and no reaping and therefore no tithing.

So the next time your pastor asks you to pay tithe, ask him about the seventh-year reprieve. Also ask him if you can give your tithe to the orphanage, or bring it as food items to be eaten in church. Believe me; he will not agree with you because it is your money he is after.

Inapplicability of tithes

Tithing was only applicable to Jews and to the land of Israel. When large populations of Jews lived in Babylon, Ammon, Moab, Egypt, and Syria, these lands became tithe-able lands. However, tithes were not acceptable from strictly Gentile lands. So you need to ask your pastor how come he is collecting tithes in Nigeria.

Servants or slaves who worked on the land did not tithe because the land did not belong to them. Since only agricultural and animal resources were included, a fisherman gave no tithe of his fisheries. Neither did a miner or a carpenter pay tithes, nor anyone from the various professional occupations. So if you are not a farmer or a keeper of livestock, tell your 419 pastor tithing is biblically inapplicable to you.

Moreover, the only people authorised to receive tithes were the Levites. (Hebrews 7:5). So if your Pastor is a “tithe-collector,” ask him if he happens to be a Jew. Remind him that, even though a Jew, Jesus could not receive the tithe because he was not from the tribe of Levi but from that of Judah.

The trick, of course, is for pastors today to claim we are “Levites.” If your pastor is one such dissembler, ask him if he lives as a Levite. Remind him that Levites had no land and did not have private property. Ask him also how he knows he is from the tribe of Levi, which happens to be one of the lost tribes of Israel. Point out to him that even Jewish rabbis don’t claim to be Levites today because all Jewish genealogical records were lost with the destruction of the Temple in AD 70, ensuring that it is no longer possible to ascertain the true identity of Levites.

Therefore, if Jews no longer tithe because the Levites are a lost tribe, how can Christian pastors collect tithes when we are not even Jewish, how much more Levites? If Jewish rabbis, whose terms of reference remain the Old Testament no longer collect tithes, then pastors who insist Christians are under a New Testament have no business doing so.

The conclusion then is inescapable. Every pastor who collects tithes is nothing but “a thief and a robber.” (John 10:1).
