Stay Alive: Seven Things To Do When There Is A Sudden Explosion In Your Area

There are certain things you need to do if there happens to be a sudden explosion in your area. These are some of those things.
File photo

Unfortunately due to a poor maintenance culture, negligence, careless and a number of other factors, the incidence of sudden explosions in different parts of the nation have become more rampant in recent times. Here are seven safety measures you can take in the event of a sudden explosion.

Remain calm
Against your natural response, you should try as much as can to remain calm when there’s a sudden explosion. This mainly because explosions are of different types and can be caused by different factors, you therefore need to try to identify the type and cause of the explosion to help you effectively deal with the problem. Sometimes, it might not even be an actual explosion you’re dealing with, but an explosive sound that might have been caused by nothing too serious.

Be as rational as possible
In a sudden event, there is a tendency to lose all sense of rationality and react with fear, rather than think with your brain. Avoid this. You need to understand that without being able to rationally assess the situation, you’re likely to make costly and even deadly mistakes. If you can calm down enough to think rationally, rather than screaming and overreacting, you’re more likely to successfully get out of the situation.

Try to take cover
If the explosions happen outdoors, try to take cover behind any shield or shelter around you. Ensure the shield is unable to conduct electricity and is reasonably sturdy. Use the time you’re taking cover to try to assess the situation and see if there is need for concern. Finding a place to take cover can also help keep you safe in the event of crowd chaos or a stampede.

Attend to loved ones
If you are not alone and you’re caught up in the incident with family and friends, after you’ve taken cover and assessed the situations, you can then try to help the loved ones around you. Remember that you need to ‘put your oxygen mask on first’, therefore you need to first be okay before you can successfully save anyone.

Turn off electrical appliances and clear all possible exits
If you’re indoors, immediately turn off all electrical appliances around you. If it’s possible, try to turn them off at their central point. Try to get your hands on a fire extinguisher, if you have one. Then, try to find and clear an exit for yourself and other loved ones that might be around or with you. Ensure you have a phone or communication device on you as you exit.

Get help
The moment you have been able to identify the explosive sound with an actual or likely dangerous explosion, immediately call a local emergency response team and report the incident to them. If you’re not able to reach an emergency response team, call anyone you know that might be able to help. Also, if you have access to the internet, immediately post a live or recorded video of the incident and copy or mention rapid response agencies that might be able to help.

Try to leave the area
If you can, try to leave the area and get as far away as possible. Please avoid downplaying the importance of an explosion and sticking around believing that nothing serious will happen. It’s called an explosion for a reason. Even in the event of a mere explosive sound, you still need to be careful and get away from the area for a while to be sure it does not escalate into an explosion.

The music icon got married in 2000, three years after he was involved in a car crash where he sustained a spinal cord injury.

Fatoyinbo Gate: 5 Alleged Female Victims Have Told Similar Stories Of R*pe (Video)

Posted by Temitayo on Wed 17th Jul, 2019 -
The last is yet to be heard of the s*x scandal rocking the career of Christian cleric, Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo of COZA.

Chude Jideonwo

The lawyer and publisher, Chude Jideonwo who anchored the expose on the senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo's purported 'sexcapades' has revealed that he has listened to the testimonies of 5 alleged female victims thus far.

Chude Jideonwo made the revelations yesterday morning while speaking on YourView, a TV programme which airs on TVC.

According to him, their accounts go in symphony with the story of rape narrated by Busola Dakolo who is the wife of the popular singer, Timi Dakolo. Busola accused Mr. Fatoyinbo of forcefully having sexual intercourse with her while she was a minor.

Mr. Jideonwo was reacting to claims by one self-acclaimed investigative journalist, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo that Busola's story is false and lacks substance.

Edo Assembly Rejects House Of Reps' Move To Disrupt Activities

Okiye said the move did not come to them as a surprise, adding that it was clear that the ad-hoc committee was up to no good.

The Edo State House of Assembly has rejected the move by the House of Representatives to disrupt activities in its chamber, calling on the Inspector General of Police and heads of the Department of State Services, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress to respect a subsisting court order restraining them from interfering in the activities of Edo House of Assembly.

Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Mr Frank Okiye, said this in a statement he issued in Benin City on Wednesday, following reports of an order by the House of Representatives to seal up the Edo House of Assembly.

Okiye said, “It has come to our knowledge that the Ad hoc Committee of the House of Representatives investigating issues surrounding the inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly has recommended that the Inspector General of Police and Department of State Services should seal up the Edo Assembly.”

The Speaker noted that “Considering what we (have) come to know in the course of this process, the recommendation of the ad hoc committee does not come to us as a surprise.”

Rt. Hon Okiye maintained that “It was clear that the ad hoc committee was up to no good. Their report was always going to be biased.

“Moreover, we want to draw the attention of the general public and the police to a subsisting court order restraining the Police, headed by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, the Department of State Services and their agents, from interfering in the affairs of the Assembly, as the House has been going about its activities peacefully and without rancour.”

He advised that “The National Assembly must take note that they are expected to act as agents of peace and not merchants of crisis. Edo State has always been peaceful and any attempt for them to carry out this order will certainly disrupt the peace that is currently being enjoyed in the state.”

The Speaker stressed that, “In a time like this in which the nation is being engulfed in one form of violence or the other, it is unfortunate that the House of Representatives is seen to be promoting violence and exacerbating the tension in the country.”

How I Broke The Cycle Of Poverty In My Family - Pastor Adeboye Tells Interesting Story

Posted by Ariwoola Temitayo
Highly revered Nigerian pastor, Enoch Adeboye has told the story of how he broke the cycle of poverty in his family.
Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), cannot be found sharing God’s glory for his greatness. He dreads it.

“Without God, I am nothing,” he is quick to point out.

Born and raised in debilitating poverty, it is a miracle that he is this powerful and influential globally.

But he didn’t sit at home, arms folded, for God to change his situation. At the July Holy Ghost Service of the church at the Redemption Camp last week, he revealed how he broke his family’s vicious cycle of poverty.

His elder brother, Gabriel Adeboye, had previously described their poverty starkly.

“It is said that some people came from a difficult background, but ours was far worse. So difficult was our case that it could be likened to being trapped in marshy land. An attempt at putting the second leg in the mud to remove the trapped leg results in both legs getting entrapped. We, however, thank God that we can testify to His awesome power in our family today,” Gabriel Adeboye said.

Preaching a sermon with the theme, ‘Swimming in Glory – Part 7 (Born to Be Great)’ the General Overseer recalled: “I looked at our situation then; my father was so poor that poor people called him poor! And yet he had two wives and many children.

“I looked at his farm; it wasn’t big enough to support his family, yet it was going to be divided amongst us when he died.

“So, I made up my mind that I wasn’t going to die in that poverty.

“And I knew that the only way out was to study hard in school. I did and gained admission to Ilesha Grammar School (Osun State).
“But when the results came, my mother called me inside the room, and said ‘you this boy, what are you trying to do? You want to expose us to ridicule? You know we have no money, and you say you want to go to Grammar School.’

“Then she begged me, ‘please my boy, Christmas is coming, I will buy you good clothes. Forget about this Grammar School.’

“I told her, ‘I don’t want Christmas clothes, I want to go to school.’

“She said, ‘we don’t have money.’ But I replied she would find the money.

“I’m talking about 1955. I told my mother I would not eat until she paid the deposit of my fees to the school. She thought I was joking. The first day I didn’t eat anything; the second day I refused to eat. By the third day, since I happened to be her only son, she and my father got the money for a deposit.
“I kept on living my dream: through various means, I finished secondary school and gained admission into the university.
On another occasion Mr Adeboye had related how poor he was in secondary school. “I walked bare-foot for the first eighteen years of my life – in rain and in sunshine.

“I can never forget my final year in the grammar school. I was eighteen years old. I was a fairly good student, and had won many prizes as a testimony to that. In those days at Ilesha Grammar School, they used to have what they called a Prize-Giving Day. That was a day before the school vacation; a day when all those who won prizes would come forward, shake hands with the principal and receive a prize for the subject they excelled in.”

“For those in the final year, there was a dress code – a white shirt over a pair of white trousers, and shoes to match. I had won a prize, but had no trousers – white, black or red. Shoes? I didn’t even know what that looked like! What was I going to do? They were going to call my name in front of everybody. It meant that I was going to go forward in the only a pair of shorts I owned, barefooted. I started lamenting, God you know I have no trousers, why did you allow me to win a prize?

“It was at that stage that one of the boys in the hostel called me, “Ademaths.” (That was my nickname). And I answered, “Yes.”

“He summoned me over and said, “I have six pairs of trousers, I don’t know which one to wear tomorrow. Can you help me choose?”

“I helped him choose one and then said to him, “Emmm, you know I don’t even have one to wear.”

“Pick one,” he said.

“Although the boy was much taller than me, I didn’t care. As far as I was concerned, trousers were trousers. Glory be to God! So I chose a pair. When I wore them, I had to pull the waistband up to my chest!

“Now the problem of trousers was solved, next was the problem of shoes.

“It was then I remembered that I had an uncle somewhere. He was as poor as a church rat but I remembered I had seen shoes on his feet before. So I went to see him and asked for the shoes. The decent pair I saw on him, he said he couldn’t let go, but that he had a pair of mended sandals to spare. The sole of the sandals was made from lorry tyres, so they called it Odutola tyre.

“He gave me the sandals and because I had never worn sandals before, I had to practise how to walk in them. At last, the Prize-Giving Day came and, glory be to God, I had trousers and a pair of sandals to wear to the occasion – a pair of borrowed trousers over Odutola tyre-sole sandals. That didn’t matter to me as I walked up there and got my prize.”

Continuing his story at the service, he said: “At that point (after gaining admission to the university), I approached the authorities of a school in Ondo State, and they agreed to sponsor me, but they wanted me to study Mathematics because they needed a Mathematics and not an English teacher. English was my best subject, but I had no choice; I went for Mathematics.

“They demanded that I returned to serve them for five years, and I said no problem. I graduated and went there to serve them. But after two and a half years, I became restless: I was getting old and didn’t want to stop with B.Sc.

“I gained admission to do M.Sc. and begged them to let me go for my Masters, assuring them that I would return to finish my bond.

“They didn’t believe me, but after obtaining the Master’s Degree at the University of Lagos, I returned to the school.

“But by then, I was becoming an embarrassment to them because I had a higher degree than my Principal. After another one and a half years; I begged them to allow me to get a PhD and return, but they said, “you are free to go, and you don’t have to come back.”
“To be great, you must be willing to pay the price,” Mr Adeboye told the large congregation.

The Praise and Worship session of the service was a time for people to dance ecstatically to good music delivered by the Mass Choir, with their performance earning the pastor’s commendation. It was also a night of amazing testimonies, including that of a medical doctor who said he was cured of cancer through prayers. That same night, Folu Adeboye, the wife of the General Overseer, again led the congregation to pray for peace in Nigeria and other nations; while there was a strong response to the altar call for salvation.

The millions of worshippers at the Holy Ghost Service must have been surprised to learn that some protesters went to the Camp days later to demand that Mr Adeboye speak about the security situation in the country. Before delving into his sermon, he had addressed the urgent need to stop the killings in the land.

He warned that the continuous shedding of innocent blood in the country could lead to an epidemic or plague.

Explaining the spiritual connection between bloodshed and plagues, he said when innocent blood is shed, it goes into the ground, and too much makes it (earth) respond in the form of epidemics.

“Blood is powerful, blood has a voice, and it speaks. When the ground is saturated with the blood of innocent people, the ground speaks.”
Stressing that too much shedding of innocent blood in a country is likely to lead to disease, he urged the church to continue praying for the bloodshed to stop.

Police Arrest Suspected Robbers Who Sprayed Pepper On Motorcyclists To Rob Them

Posted by Ariwoola Temitayo
The modus operandi of the suspects was to look for the rider of a new motorcycle and pretend as passengers, having armed themselves with powdered pepper.
The suspects

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery gang who allegedly specialised in snatching motorcycles after spraying pepper on their victims’ eyes.

The suspects were said to be operating in Aiyepe, Ososa and adjoining communities in the Odogboolu Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said this in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Oyeyemi said the modus operandi of the suspects was to look for the rider of a new motorcycle and pretend as passengers, having armed themselves with powdered  pepper, screw driver and spanner.

The PPRO stated, “On getting to an isolated area, they will spray the pepper on the eyes of the motorcyclist, stab him with the screw driver to make it easy for them to overpower and dispossessed him of the motorcycle.

“Luck, however, ran out on them on Sunday when they robbed one Tanko Abdullah of his Bajaj motorcycle with number plate JBD 375 WZ after spraying pepper on his eyes.

“The alarm raised by the victim attracted the DPO, Odogbolu Division, CSP Saminu Akintunde, who was on a routine patrol with his men; the team raced to the scene and with the help of other commercial motorcyclists, they apprehended the trio of Ibru Ogbeba, Monday Wewe and Bisoye Odubote.

“Recovered from them were the snatched motorcycle, powdered pepper, screw driver and spanner.

“Another victim of the suspects’ operation, one Michael Sunday, whose Bajaj motorcycle was snatched on June 26, also identified them as those who snatched his own motorcycle.”

The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for discreet investigation.

The CP, according to Oyeyemi, has warned that the state will no longer be conducive for criminals.

20 year old lady bites off boyfriend’s manhood in Lagos

According to NAN, Blessing, who is being detained at the Lagos State Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, claims she was in pain when she committed the act.

“Johnson is my boy friend; he works as a hotel manager. We have been dating for six months and he had promised to help me with my Curriculum Vitae (CV), when he asked me to meet him at his friend’s place on July 5 at Surulere.

“I called him to confirm if he had his C.V. with him as he had told me that I would just edit and add my personal information.

“He said he had it with him, so, I proceeded to his place with the intention of getting the C.V. and leaving early so that I can use it the next day.

“When I got to his friend’s place, we went to a bar around there where he and his friend had a drink. They then asked me to go with them to their brother’s place which I declined, saying I have to be home early,” she said.

“We all went home together where his friend gathered some stuffs and we saw him off after which we returned to his place. When I asked him for the C.V., he said he didn’t bring it and I told him I was leaving.

“He got angry and said why will I just come and go like that. So, I told him what is the point of waiting, since I was not able to get what I came for.

“He tried taking my clothes off which I refused and he slapped me twice. He took off his clothes and was putting on boxers and singlet while he held on to my breast to pin me down.”
She said that at point, she held on to his manhood and told him to leave me but he refused.

“I told him I was on my menstrual period and that he should wait until Sunday but he insisted on checking.

“Usually, we see more than once in a week but the last time I saw him was a week ago. In fact, I was with him when I started having the menstrual pains. I was surprised he didn’t believe me.

“Johnson insisted on having sex with me and when I refused, he hit me on my back, I was so pained that I bit his manhood. I didn’t mean to harm him,”
she said.

Blessing added that she rushed Johnson to a private hospital in Surulere where the doctor requested for the presence of a family member or the police before Johnson could be treated.

“There was no one to call as my father is late and my mother is in the village. I called Johnson’s relatives but they refused to show up. The hospital had to call the police and I was arrested.

“I didn’t mean to harm Johnson; I am not a violent person. Even my mother will feel bad when she hears about this. I am sure she will be trying to reach me but my SIM card is blocked,”
 the lady said.
